From ancient times Kvernes har been a religious and cultural center in Nordmøre. There was a church here in the 14th century. In 1630 it was expanded and rebuilt into today’s stave church.

The church has been well taken care of and is a national and international attraction at the millenium cultural area of Averøy.

During the summer, the stave church is open every day with a guided tour during the opening hours 11: 00–17: 00, from mid-June to the end of August. Out of season, it is possible for groups to arrange a guided tour. Contact us at telephone: +47 95 18 11 11.
